Think its about time...
« on: April 19, 2010, 12:01:02 PM »
I think its about time I tell everyone that I am leaving the ArmA community, I lost interest in ArmA several months ago and I dont think its fair that I just sit back and dont say anything when people are looking forward to this mod. I am not sure if TNL will continue but me and deadfast have both not worked on TNL for some time since we have been busy in RL so I seriously doubt it.

The website will remain up for about 2 more months then I will have to shut it down, I guess if everyone wants to remain with friends and as a community then you move over to http://slr-rpg.mh-gamerscommunity.de hopefully they have the problems sorted but I guess its better than nothing, as Hammer told me its apparently better now.

TNL has come far and alot of time and work has gone into it, its a shame I wont be around to see it finished if it ever is, I have met some good friends here which I will keep in touch with such as Deadfast, Knock0, Jantje, Waffen, Jason, Hammer, Nils and many others!

You may notice there hasnt been any updates since christmas on TNL and thats really because... there hasn't been anything at all to post lol.

Not really sure what else to say but, <3 you all.

God... can you release the files? Perhaps we can find a person who will continue this...

Been nice to meet you though, and I hope you will return once.
I got the archievment "Art of Stealth" in ArmA 2.

Is it all about the mod for you?
----------------------

Anyways, I rather say many thanks to the Devīs (Un4, DF,Jason,...etc) efforts instead of thinking about how the hell we can release this mod..

This Forum went offtopic since Christmas, so its either the truth we need to accept that they close the case for modding TNL and ArmA, or its just a good strategy to work on this mod secretly.

THOUGH when I look back on several conversations with DF and Un4, that they are busy with RL issues, I doubt it will be the "strategy".

So long story short,

Thanks for your time in scripting and modding, and of course to the people which went on the forums daily to chat and look for any updates(even if there werenīt any)...

Cya on MSN :D

greetings

alright, that is sad...

It is a real shame that it has come to this. I'm sure this mod would have had a huge potential... :(

But at least thank you for saying it, so taht it would not happen like in ARMARPG.

Perhaps this mod was too good to be true

p.s. are we allowed to release some of the screenshots from Dev section?

Well, alot of mods do die, mostly because of these reasons.
No one can force the Devs to do it, mostly because its just a game and RL comes well before a mod, but it did seem like alot of progress had been made.

Even though it is now dead, or dieing or whatever, we should still thank you two for your time and work that went into teh mod.

Anyway, thanks that your keeping the site open for a bit.

To be honest, I lost an interest in Arma aswell and don't really find much of any video games interesting anymore.  :-\

I had started playing SLR again the last 3 days, but cannot continue as it takes a lot of time that I don't have. Work, school, and personal life get in the way that didn't use to when I was younger... so Un4 I totally understand.
I kinda saw this coming and I'm just glad its in the open. Thanks for being honest.

I like chatting with most you guys, and have some of you on msn, so i'll keep in touch.  ;D

There is still Deadfast and the other developers if they continue work on it, I have only said that I am leaving.

Good luck with whatever you're going to do. I'm not sure if community will survive w/o you though...

I know a lot of work had been done already, but I know that that probably isn't half of it. I guess the decision is to either continue with a lot more work or discontinue development to further. In my opinion I would have done the same thing and leave it as it is; you never know how much work you will need to put into the project before you finish it.

I understand Deadfast is busy with real life stuff, concentrating on school work which, at this time of the year can be crazy.

The other developers have had nothing to do simply because the backend code needs finishing before we continue. That is/was the job of Unforgiven and Deadfast. If the code or files so far will be released is up to the decision of Deadfast and Unforgiven really. If someone can really prove they may have to at least turn what we have already into something then they may have a chance.

However, looking at the code it is all very customizable, which may make things confusing for those approaching the code and taking over the TNL project. It is something that would eventually be fully documentated but as it goes, it probably won't reach that stage now. TNL is easily the largest modification for this game engine, even at its stage now in my opinion. I remember a few months back Deadfast was having trouble with a game engine limit for functions or something like that, related to the large number of functions we had.

It is a shame, but most likely something most of us have been expecting since the start of this year.

It's with a sad heart I read this, but at the same time there is no excuses, as real life must be the #1 priority, along with interests. TNL may or may not continue, and everything you have done, Unforgiven, has been a blessing. Maybe it can be used for others to learn and develop.

Whatever may happen in the future, I wish you great luck and thanks for everything you have done Matty. :)

Just a heads up, there is only 31 days left on the website contract. The code will not be released to the public but may be released to anyone who is serious about completing it and if we believe they are capable of actually scripting it and maintaining it at its current quality.
