Microphone help
« on: April 24, 2010, 02:04:16 PM »
I have logitech ClearChat Stereo headset with analog plug-in.
I can hear things, but my microphone doesn't make a sound.

I've got honestly no idea what's wrong, the microphone is jacked in and in recording devices it shows its available...
I know this isn't much info but I have no idea what info should I give.

1. make sure you have correct settings in "Recoding" under Sound, in control panel.
2. make sure there is nothing wrong with the wire.
3. make sure you have drivers, they are needed sometimes.
4. many other reasons.

What OS you use? Make sure the mic is set as default device if you use W7.

mess with the settings in Control Panel > Sounds > Recording > Mic (properties). Also if you use the Realtek HD sound drivers, get the Realtek control panel (google it). Has some settings for recording too.

In Windows 7 disable all your recording devices except your microphone.

What soundcard is it, an onboard one?

See if your mic has a "mute/unmute" slide/button on the wire.
